Latest Version of TruckStops® Routing System Adds Features for Mixed Pick-Up/Drop-Off Operations
ARLINGTON, VA - March 13, 2001 - TruckStops Routing and Scheduling System version 2.6 contains new functionality critical to operations with mixed pick-up/drop-off situations, according to a recent report from MicroAnalytics, Inc. Companies who collect a product or replenish with a product within routes can now more efficiently include drop-off or refill points in their routes.
"The pick-up/drop-off feature is fundamental for any operation collecting and redistributing product such as milk, fuel or trash where the next stop for unloading or replenishment depends on what is already present on the truck," said Mike Hooban, president of MicroAnalytics. "I'm very pleased with these additions and know many of our users will benefit."
Other key features added to TruckStops in the 2.6 version involve opening and editing data files and reports in Microsoft Excel. Users can open a data file --containing customer or vehicle data --in Microsoft Excel by simply right -clicking with the mouse. Changes or additions can be made to the data, and the TruckStops file is updated automatically just by closing the Excel file. Route reports or truck reports can be opened in Excel by right -clicking also.
"For users who want to calculate total miles or average costs per route or stop, this feature will allow them to analyze routes faster and easier," said Hooban.
Available for Windows® 95/98/NT/00, TruckStops can be used either dynamically, for scheduling vehicles on routes that change daily, or strategically, for planning and updating fixed delivery routes.
