OptiSite® Site Location Software Version 2.0 Adds Database Access Flexibility, Enhanced User Interface, New Reporting Tools
Arlington, VA - May 14, 2002 - OptiSite® for Windows Site Location Software is now available in Version 2.0. OptiSite’s new database access options facilitate the flow of data from users’ enterprise systems, regardless of how the data are structured. OptiSite seamlessly accesses relational databases, spreadsheets, web pages, and other types of data using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), a widely accepted application programming interface for database access, and/or ActiveX Data Objects (ADO), MicroSoft’s newest high-level interface for data objects. “This added flexibility in OptiSite’s database access allows our customers to develop tightly integrated systems for site location analysis,” said Mike Hooban, president of MicroAnalytics. “Once the user’s data is accessed, OptiSite builds scenarios that model least-cost/best-service site locations.”
The new release also contains an improved user interface that significantly enhances use of OptiSite’s reporting tools. In addition to updated statistical analysis reports shown in chart form, the Cost Sensitivity Analysis feature is now displayed in a graphical map format. The report shows users the relative cost (as a percentage of total cost) to re-locate a facility in any cardinal direction from an approximate or optimum site location.
OptiSite for Windows is a full-featured distribution planning and site location model designed to help companies analyze and manage their distribution resources more effectively. Given a set of supply and demand points, the software helps determine the optimum number and location of distribution centers and the best use of current products. It helps users determine which suppliers to use, where to stock products, how many products to stock and which centers will provide your customers with the best and most cost-effective service.
